Service Development & Training

The primary role of the Clinical Studies Group (CSG) for Service Development and Training is to identify, and provide guidance on, the service development and training implications of proposed trials and studies in stroke, and hence facilitate their conduct.

In addition to two patient representatives, the eight professional members of this CSG come from a wide variety of backgrounds, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of stroke care.

The group will identify existing barriers to the conduct of research in NHS stroke service infrastructure, and advise on strategies to tackle them. The group will seek to find effective mechanisms to integrate research with service delivery at a local level.

The group will identify the training and education needs of the stroke research workforce, and develop a comprehensive, high quality core curriculum to address them. The group will work with the UK Clinical Research Network to develop the national programme of generic research training.

At all times, the group will promote active involvement of patients and public in service development and training and education in stroke research.
